Lemon cake and poppy seeds
Ingredients:
1 cup softened butter
1½ - of sugar
2 eggs
2- tablespoons of lemon or orange peel
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2½ cups flour
1 tablespoon of poppy seeds
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of baking soda
½ teaspoon of salt
1½- buttermilk
For icing:
1½ cup icing sugar
2- tablespoons of lemon juice
Preparation:
- Use two bowls a large and a small.
- In the bigger one, add and beat the butter and sugar.
- Add one by one the eggs by beating after each addition,
- add lemon zest and vanilla and set aside.
- In the other bowl, mix the flour, poppy seeds, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- First, use 1/3 of the flour mixture with the sugar / butter mixture of the other bowl
- Alternate the preparations in 3 times by alternating 2 times with the buttermilk.
- Bake in a floured crown mold at 325°F for about 55 minutes.
- When cooled, unmold and pour and let penetrate the frosting.
